Ev Kauffmann, 79, has been a player on one of Sun City, Arizona's American Softball League's teams since the league started in 1979. He is the last of the original members and enjoys playing with his neighbors at Sun Bowl "for exercise, fun, camraderie," he said. .There are three seasons of softball in Sun City, which makes the sport year-round for those who can handle the hot summers. .Sun City "has everything you wanna do here; any club you wanna belong to, any sport you wanna play," he said. "It's one of the most unique places in the country."
